The Risks at a Rare Guitar Exhibition

As a guitarist I couldn't resist the Canberra Rare Guitar meet.

This sweet Mahogany 1938 Martin caught my eye. Thankfully I reminded myself that it's all about making music, not collecting and caring for rare wood.
I left impressed, empty handed and solvent.
The Martin fell into the lower price bracket of the weekend's fine collection.

Gmail's Older Version Loses It's Settings

Suddenly, the fastest version of Gmail (UI=1), has lost access to Settings.

To access settings I have to load the slowest newest version of Gmail (UI=2).

Hoping this is a temporary glitch.

Update: It seems to have resolved itself. It was only specific to my MacBook Pro and didn't happen on the iMac. I disabled everything in Labs so maybe this had some effect. How very odd!.

Update: So now this odd behaviour has become intermittent. Sometimes UI=1 won't/can't link to Settings, then out of the blue it can.
Got me beat.

The Five Year Itch - Changing Web Hosts

The Dear John letter, which put this site into a holding pattern, has been resolved.

Based on a deluge of negative comments, articles and reviews about EasyCGI we blew the remainder of our 10 months plan and money to looked elsewhere.

We appreciate the benefit of dealing with an Australian based host and even sussed out servers right here in Canberra.

Good reviews, a fair bang for buck and prompt replies tipped the scales and we are now hosted with HostNexus

The move had it's usual glitches however the DNS resolved fast, for us, and here's looking forward to not having to this again for at least another 5 years.

Trust Me, I'm a Journalist

This is the still image the Australian Online used for Andrew's election chat.

Looks like he just stepped out of an all night bar in the Valley.

A State of Transition

This site is going into a holding pattern due to hosting decisions being forced on us.

Any day now, the site will be hived off to EasyCGI and reports are not encouraging.

I'm looking at alternative hosting however I'm not rushing into anything.

After six happy years with Webstrike Solutions, we look forward to finding a host that can hold a candle to their level of care and responsibility.

After this post everything will be backed up one last time. Any subsequent comments may be lost.

Just keep saying change is good, change is good.
