village-idiot.org -- wordpress 2.5
"WordPress-1.5.1.3, the longest stable release in the 1.5 branch, checked in with a meager 163 files spread over eleven directories, taking up just 1.04Mb. You could actually put WordPress on a floppy disk. :)
Compare that starting point with these numbers:
wordpress-2.0.11: 319 files/41 directories/1.8Mb
wordpress-2.1.3: 411 files/53 directories/2.34Mb
wordpress-2.2.3: 433 files/54 directories/2.77Mb
wordpress-2.3.3: 471 files/58 directories/3Mb
Finally,
wordpress-2.5 weighs in with 516 files, spread over 66 directories, at almost 4Mb."
Meanwhile the latest release of b2evolution is loosing weight.
Update: 12/03/08
Well done SXSW. They have added a linked credit at the bottom of each blog post. Bravo.
You would imagine SXSW 08 would be the sort of outfit that understands giving credit to the open source software running their websites.
They drive the whole SXSW 08 site with b2evolution, cover it in advertisements yet don't acknowledge the CMS/blogging software at all.
How pathetic!!
Francois Planque just happens to rock up at SXSW.... his impressions...
The SxSW website is actually powered by b2evolution (with no less than 9 blogs throughout the entire site) but they wouldn't advertise that publicly. Nor did they actually invite me here. Sadly enough, the first panel I attended here was titled "Respect!". Yeah, right...
The full list of b2 blogs they are running.
Adding Flash to the Video Plugin.
Someone said that if you hang around smart people long enough you may learn something.
For the time and help with “preg_replace” lessons and a whole lot more, thanks to ¥åßßå who’s coding skills are only matched by his good looks and pleasant demeanour.
The b2evolution plugin is available for download here
