Broadband or rubberband!!

Tuck Felstra

Yes, the T and the F are interchangeable.

Six weeks ago we upgraded from tin cans and string to ADSL.

We jumped in with confidence despite the reputation of Telstra BigPond and past issues between us and this Australian telco monopoly.

Results to date....

We can access the Internet in random intervals of 4 to 6 hours a day with no control over when those hours occur. For the rest of the time the packet loss runs between 50% and 100% on every hop making access impossible.

Postings here will be thin on the ground until a solution is found. A Telstra technician might arrive this Wednesday......

A computer without the Internet is useless

UPDATE:

Back online and all I can say is that the Technician that tried to sort us out was a rockstar.

He spent about 5 hours doing everthing from Exchange Port swaps to Modem testing.

In the end, it seems that our Billion Modem is just too sensitive to line noise so we are currently using a spare bog standard featurelss unit until we can decide which brand will work and provide the features we need.

Mr.Telstra Technician, thank you.
