Drink Driver Hits Racing Cyclists
'Sleeping' driver ploughs into bike race - World - smh.com.au
The 28-year-old driver was apparently drunk and fell asleep when he crashed into the race, said police investigator Jose Alfredo Rodriguez.

This idiot may have been on the other side of the road and veered across the road, but accidents like this occur too frequently.
It seems to me that events like this need more cover in the form of paid Police escorts that not only lead the riders but protect them from the sides as well. One very loud police car with it's siren blasting may have helped prevent or reduce the impact.
