The triumph of landscapes

Today we visited Turner to Monet.

Five rooms featuring works by the great landscape artists of the 19th century.
The experience left me calm, surprised, inspired and enriched.

Constable, Roberts, Streeton, Monet, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Pissarro, Turner and many others...

Warhol exhibition to open in Brisbane - ABC News

An exhibition of work by pop art icon Andy Warhol opens at the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) in Brisbane on Saturday, in Australia’s first major retrospective of his work.

The exhibition marks 20 years since the artist’s death in 1987 and brings together more than 300 works from the 1950s on, including Warhol paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, photographs and films.

Brisbane has come a long way. A Warhol would have been burnt during the “white shoe brigade” days.

While nothing replaces being there, MoMa excels in online presentations that convey texture, scale, context and information.

Shannon Darrough, Senior Media Developer - Digital Media for MoMa, designed this site. I asked him about the interaction between the online designers and the Artist, Curators and the Exhibition team.

Shannon kindly replied…

it does depend a lot on the curatorial team. I haven’t worked with all of them, of course, but the ones that I have had the pleasure to work with have approached these projects in many different ways. Some have been very “hands on"; others (often those that are less familiar with the medium) give us a free hand in the concept and design.

Web design heaven!

Flash is the perfect medium for sites like this though I do wish they would use deep linking so I could direct you to the wonderful Walk through video.

Visit Web Designers’ Interviews for an extended interview with Shannon.
