It's just GONE! A few years of messages and IM's, plus all his calendar and search information...
A timely reminder that Gmail can disappear, for whatever reason, and you need some home grown insurance.

You can backup mail using POP access however you still lose labels etc.

Moral to this story is, don't assume this won't happen!
