Australia misses out on the iTunes price cut.

Users of Apple's iTunes Store in the US were today gifted significant price cuts for songs without copy protection, but Australians will continue to pay exorbitant prices due to Apple's dominant position

The DRM-free iTunes Plus tracks, which include the EMI catalogue and tracks from independent labels, will continue to cost Australians $2.19 each, significantly more than the $1.69 price of its other DRM-protected tracks.

This may change however it's an odd variation from Apple's usual global announcements. Time to shop around.
