So very very sad in this day and age and one of the richest Nations cannot properly help its people or even give them water :(

My hat is off to this mayor he is speaking many truths. We all need Mayors like this guy.

At first to me it looked as if this was a racial thing and in the back of mind its there, but hey white people are dropping dead too all because they cannot get water or food in America one of the richest nations in the world?

But whats coming out now is why these people never got out when asked well its pretty easy to see why, they are elderly, frail, ill, no transport, deaf, blind people, disabled and majority had no where to go or had the means to get to where they were asked to go. They closed the highways down before the hurricane hit  so people had to turn back.

Until I heard the Black Corcus (think thats what they called them sorry if I am wrong) and listened to Rev Jackson and the Mayor Of New Orleans Ray Nagin speak their mind on all this, they speak the truth they need to all get off their butts stop having these stupid press political meetings and thanking each other and send people in NOW and stop waiting for approval, people are dying and they will still continue to die after this, they have lost their heritage, homes, everything they have nothing. And you cannot tell me they have no where better to place these people other than sporting dromes or whatever they are called. I feel so helpless I get very annoyed watching it and very frustrated these people are not being helped the way they should be with just the pure basics to survive.

Do I read annoyed? you betcha total disgrace and its showing the entire world america does not have the proper resources available when a disaster strikes.

Had they of gave them the funding they took away from New Orleans to put into stupid wars in Iraq, New Orleans Levees may of been in better shape and not collapsed. They have known for years this would happen and now it has happened they have no friggin clue how to handle it.

If this is a racist thing towards these people I say shame on the American Government because these people are the roots to your country, I would gladly open my home to any of these people :(

Sheesh I could go right off here, but its very frustrating end of Day 5 and still people are dying from no water.

Hi Donna, I'm sure that the usual American generosity will prevail and that solutions will be found and acted on.

The shame is that this has been left as a disaster in the making for far too long.

I'm sorry i'm from another country so i don't understand this very well
but
all images i've seen on tv
i see a lot of black people needing help
do you thing this is why the govern is not making all the efforts they can to help them?

Do you think this might be a racist problem?

Hi Frank, I don't think so. I read somewhere that 67% of the population of New Orleans is black so I'm sure there is nothing overtly racist going on.

I think it simply shows that too many levels of Government cant organise a picnic, let alone a relief effort of this magnitude and that needs urgent fixing.

They had plenty of time and means to leave. I have videotape of the news, 24x7, from the Monday PRIOR to that storm until the Monday AFTER the storm and floods, etc. All I see is UNDERMINED weather folks, cocky citizens geering at newscasters prior to the storm and arrogance among the citizens OH and a Mayor and a Governor whose hatred for each other and inability to organize ANYTHING which lead to the deaths of all those people. Period.

Oh, and Frank... no, there is no racism problem here. The word and definition of the word RACISM is so diluted today that it means NOTHING.

Look at France. Gotta laugh at the ones who thumb their noses at us and our government for not being able to control people. This is what happens when arrogance is repaid.
