We wont shop there

The community don't want this supermarket chain in our town.

Against the wishes of 79% of the residents, the Obi Obi Creek now has the foundations layed for a new Supermarket right on its banks.

Before any foundations were dug, the developer publicly offered to sell the block for $2 million. The amount was raised within the community in two days, however the offer was then retracted.

Approximately 150 Police were sent to our quiet little patch to protect the entry of the bulldozers.

So, unless some lazy politician starts doing the job they are paid to do, the only action left to us is to simply NOT SHOP THERE

Silly isn't it...

You forgot to mention the reason why so many people are against this development: platypus habitat destruction. Or is there something else?

Definitely newsworthy, thanks for posting it.

It's a real shame when developers, especially ones hoping to make a profit like this, ignore the local community they are surely targetting with their supermarket!

I hope it all works out for you guys!

How very sad. Still, I am so glad to hear that so many tried to stop it on multiple occasions.

I live in one of the most beautiful places left in America, but you cannot get the residents to stand up for anything. Several times we have been raped now, and I no longer know if this is the beautiful mountain I first came to.

It seems odd to me to build a market that close to a body of water. Won't it flood? Won't the water erode the building's foundations over the next fifty years? What madness is this?

Do you think the town will boycott the supermarket when it opens and thus sending it to the same fate as the local platypus? I can't understand why they would build a supermarket knowing that they are alienating the very customers they will depend on for success.

Time will tell re the boycott, but it will be pretty full on from the town's residents. The issue will be the day trippers, lets hope they also join in.
